20 Tips: Black History Month

Tip 1: Although it’s “officially” Black History Month, we can always be learning about & celebrating each culture /ethnicity all year long.
Tip 2: Black History Month books for children
Tip 3: I love the idea of recognizing the differences in cultures & backgrounds. No need to view us all as “the same.” We can celebrate the differences.
Tip 4: More books for kids, by age.
Tip 5: Awesome movie: Akeelah and the Bee. Haven’t seen it? Watch with the kids!
Tip 6: Are you an educator? Have you seen this one yet? The Providence Effect
Tip 7: “I’m Free!” Post by BingNote.com: 4th grader who won first place in the annual speaking competition honoring MLK.

Tip 16: Many teachers intertwine the history of African-American figures throughout the year. Rather than one month only. I love that idea.
