I’ve been trying to think about what I can do for my clients as a sign of appreciation…as the 2009 year comes to an end and we ring in 2010.
I have 67 people/businesses listed on the Mommy Perks site right now so that makes it a bit hard to send everyone cash, a gift card, present, etc. My next best option seemed to be a special note. So that’s what I am doing – writing a special note to my clients and friends.
Especially to those who have been with me since 2007. There are a few select people who have stuck by my side, through thick and thin, over the last two years. People who are still around, going strong in the Mommy Perks community – helping us promote, inviting more moms and readers to join our community, tweeting and re-tweeting about Mommy Perks and so on.
On another note, I’d like to take a moment to mention 10 people in particular in more detail, for various reasons. ALL of my clients and contacts are important to me but there are a few folks who really stand out in my mind as 2009 comes to an end.
- The first person that comes to mind is Suzanne Remington, owner of The Boy’s Store. Suzanne joined the Mommy Perks site long ago. Through ups and downs and many changes, she is still here and stronger than ever in our community: posting, tweeting and shopping from her fellow members. She has really become a great companion to me and I appreciate her so much!
- Another client that comes to mind is Gary, owner of The Green Path Company, author of “The Green Crusaders.” Gary has also been around since 2007, entrusting me to help him promote and offering green tips for every monthly newsletter. I appreciate Gary’s loyalty through the years.
- Dawn Oliphant, with Project Mahma, has been with me since 2008. Some changes have been made to her listing and to the business she runs and we have worked together to come up with new ways to support her efforts – and the efforts of Mommy Perks, as a community. I appreciate that Dawn has stuck around and will continue on into 2010!
- Although I haven’t known Louise, owner of Signing Families, as long as these other three, she has truly made a HUGE impact on the Mommy Perks community. She always has her eyes and ears open, ready to find ways in which she can support me, my clients, our concepts and our future goals. She is a wonderful networking buddy with both of my businesses and I am grateful to be walking into 2010 with her by my side.
- I met MariLee, owner of ReallyWorkingFromHome.com, just a few months ago. On various levels I’d say we are soul mates (in a friendship sort of way). Our private and business philosophies are very similar. MariLee is the only other website owner that I know of (so far!) who buys from her own clients, as I do – to support their efforts. I thought I was the only one doing that until I met her! She gives me hope that small business can and will continue to grow, expand and branch out in 2010 – one supportive measure at a time.
- Barb, owner of Treasures4Teachers, has been a part of my life since 2008. She was introduced to me through Dr. Sally Goldberg. I was immediately drawn to Barb’s kind and generous nature. She has always supported both of my businesses, graciously and without reservation: through emails, newsletters, sample books sitting in her warehouse, business cards on her wall and more. I greatly appreciate her support and look forward to our continuing relationship in 2010.
- Scottie, of Healing Thresholds, is a big supporter of Mommy Perks and also of my PCS businesses. She often re-posts and re-tweets my articles, crafts, examiner posts, fan pages posts and more. Scottie is actually NOT a client of mine
However…she has certainly become a wonderful friend and a huge supporter of everything “Shara.” If I were a more narcissistic person, I’d probably invite her to live closer to me. Just so I could enjoy the “Shara Love’n” from a closer geographical location. - Wendy, owner of Kidlutions, is another person I want to mention here. Again – Wendy is not a client of mine. However, we have gotten close through Twitter and she has been greatly supportive of both of my businesses – to no end. Posting, tweeting, reviewing, engaging and inviting others to join the Mommy Perks community (and patron my book business, for that matter). She has become a wonderful support system and I appreciate that very much!
- Lisa, owner of Regionz Kidz, has been a friend of mine now for several years. She posts every two weeks on 2 of the Mommy Perks blogs: Kid’s Corner and GreenScene. She has stuck by Mommy Perks through every possible adversity, never complaining about the changes, modifications, ups and downs. She’s a trooper and a great friend and I hope to be in better contact with her in 2010!
- Lisa, our AVON rep, has also been with Mommy Perks since 2007. She has stuck by through the good and the bad and continues to be an active part of our group. She recently moved across the country and I hope she will remain active in our circle in the months to come! Lisa has been a huge support system: from sending out emails, inviting others to join the site to helping with events, giveaways, postings and more. She has been an invaluable resource to all of us!
I feel as though our site and community have really taken a turn for the amazing over the last 12 months or so. There are more clients who come to mind and who deserve mention. That old saying goes, “Make new friends but keep the old – one is silver and the other is gold.”
This list contains both new and old contacts and clients. SILVER and GOLD. Both of which are highly valuable and needed resources
(*Please note that these clients are current and active on the Mommy Perks site.)

Shara, you are so kind to do this for “all” of your clients as I know even a link to each of their websites are so appreciated.
I really look forward to 2010 and watching all of us grow and learn together. I believe this social networking stuff is starting to really catch on and we are all able to support each other this way. I remember when I received an e-mail from you saying “hey, you should be on Facebook, it is really cool”. Thanks for giving me that push and you are right, it is really cool!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
