Tip #1: 15 free sites/links to crafts, downloads and more. Have fun with your kids in the midst of the chaos!
Tip #2: 10 de-stressing tips for the holidays including a link to valuable holiday depression info.
Tip #3: What is important to you and your family? Keep that a priority at all times:
Tip #4: Baking w/your kids = bonding, math school, literacy and more: Unique recipes
Tip #5: Make sure you participate in events that help others – gifts to needy kids, the eldery, etc. Visit a rest home or shelter together.
Tip #6: Be sure your kids hear you SPEAK about what you are thankful for this season. Not just “Want Want Want.” Greed = not a good role model.
Tip #7: Play music, dance, sing together. Smile and keep things upbeat. Very few things in life are really worth getting worked up over.
Tip #8: Play board and card games as a family. Games teach concentration, math, literacy, communication. Fun during the holidays, too!
Tip #9: It’s so easy to get down if $ is low. I always think about those with SO MUCH LESS than me. I have so much, when put in perspective!
Tip #10: If you really get down about $, volunteer somewhere. Watching the strength of others, with even less, is character building.
Tip #11: Do the Salvation Army tins annoy you? I drop a few coins into every one I see. It’s a legitimate organization w/a quality track record (no fraud that we know of, like many other organizations).
Tip #12: Wherever you give, it’s important. You’ve heard me say, “Even if we have just 2 loaves of bread, someone else has NONE. We can share.”
Tip #13: Many schools have a back room where they keep clothing for needy kids. Donate there if you can. Coats, pants, socks, etc.
Tip #14: Are your kids behaving greedily? Watch movies that impress thankfulness, giving, gratitude and a spirit of thanks. Talk about it!
Tip #15: When my dad ran a homeless shelter we volunteered for holidays. They get TONS of volunteers this time of year. Consider year round work!
Tip #16: Can’t afford gifts? Make some. Use items from around home to create ornaments, sew, knit, paint a picture, frame a photo, make a CD.
Tip #17: When kids are asked, later in life, what mattered most to them the answer is usually, “TIME.” I just wanted TIME for my parents.
Tip #18: Eat dinner together, play games that open lines of chat (like Kubit2me). Social-emotional ties are KEY to empathetic hearts; now and year round.
Tip #19: The very best way to take the focus off YOU and is to GIVE to someone else. Either time, talent, money, gifts, etc. Whatever you can!
Tip #20: If you don’t wish to BUY, consider donating what you’d have spent. So many organizations need money to help others. Happy Holidays!!
