The lovely Miss Dawn pictured with her husband
Dawn has been a part of the Mommy Perks community for about two years now. She signed on in order to gain some advertising and attention for her Shaklee business.
At that time, I didn’t know anything about Shaklee yet. I had never used it. Dawn explained to me that the items sold are bleach free, natural and safe. Shaklee has been around for some 50+ years. It’s also endorsed by Oprah.
Hmm. Okay, I’ll try it. I have never been a huge Oprah fan (sorry – don’t lynch me) BUT…I loved the idea of cleaning my kid’s tub with a safe product rather than sitting them in water, containing bleach residue.
I signed up with Dawn as a buyer (not a Rep) soon after.
The funniest part is this: many moons ago I worked as a professional home cleaner. FYI – that is back breaking work. However, I have always believed that any job is a job to be thankful for so I was willing to clean toilets and tubs to earn a living.
Back to my point: When I cleaned houses, the company used a product that smelled like cherry pits. It came in a small round plastic container and was the absolute BEST cleaning product I had ever used. When I stopped working for this company I asked them where they got the product. They would not tell me. For ten years I wondered what product I had been using and kicked myself for not writing down the information from the little container, for future reference.
While looking over Dawn’s site for items to order, I saw that very product. I got so excited that I actually yelled out to my husband that my search was over!!! I’d found the miracle cleaner again!!
I’ve ordered the Cherry Pit Scrub for myself and for my mother. Since using it, my mother has ordered for my three sisters.
Yes – it’s that good. In fact, Shaklee often has the scrub on back order (which can be frustrating for a buyer but is also a sign of popularity!).
On to other things:
The lovely Miss Dawn is seeking moms to work with her team. I have never worked with an MLM business myself but I can tell you this: I’ve known many women who have. Some of them display very little drive when it comes to building their business up. Others show a lot. Dawn is one of the ones who has the drive to build the business she desires. She works hard, follows through with customers, offers sales and specials on a regular basis and knows her stuff.
She also believes in what she is selling. That is a top priority, in my opinion, for any successful small business. The owner/worker MUST personally believe in what they are selling. If they don’t, it’s nothing but a marketing scam.
Dawn believes. I’ve seen it for myself. She’d sell these products from the back of her car if need be. (Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that
)
My advice: if you are looking to work with a direct sales company, Dawn is one of the people I would highly recommend. If you do contact her, please mention that you found her through the Mommy Perks site. We must keep tabs on these things, you know
Thanks for getting to know a little bit about Dawn!

How did your company start and WHY?
The why is simple - when I had first begun the business, I was a single mom and I wanted hours that are more flexible so I could be home when I needed or wanted to. I actually started working in this industry when I became pregnant. I worked from my house conducting interviews. After my daughter was born, I continued working at home conducting research. As my daughter grew older, it became more difficult to work from home so I started working part time for a research company located in an area mall. After my separation and divorce, I went to work full time. Each day I loved the industry more and more. The only issue I had was that working full time gave me no flexibility with the things I wanted to do at home and with my daughter. Being a single mom I also needed more job security than I was given.
I was lucky enough to have someone come through my office and see my talents , and, having worked with me, also become willing to invest in me. I also wanted to prove to myself that I could do this. It was very important to my self-esteem and important to show my children that with hard work and a little luck, you can accomplish big things.
What words of advice can you offer to other moms in business?
Having loving children helps a great deal. You should also have a strong support system. In my case, it was my husband who I married just 10 months after I started my business. He took care of most of the home chores so that I could concentrate on running and expanding my business.
Are you giving anything away today? If so, what is it?
Yes! We are providing one lucky winner with a goody bag of promotional items – including a gym-style bag, a reusable shopping bag, a key chain, two bendable Frisbees, and several hyper-color pens!
