Tip #1: Never write to a customer when you are in a BAD mood. Sleep on it. Drink some water. Clear your head. BREATHE
Tip #2: Realize that everyone has bad days (or weeks). Be empathetic of the people you are working with…or for. You’d want the same respect.
Tip #3: When answering a forum or blog question, be polite. If you wouldn’t be happy for potential clients to see it, don’t write it.
Tip #4: Be careful what bridges you burn. You may just need to double back some day & cross that bridge. If it’s gone…your stuck.
Tip #5: Answer phone calls and/or emails within 48 hours. I consider it extremely rude when a biz owners never even answers me.
Tip #6: Think only those who are BIG can help you? Think again. Sometimes the “smaller” folks have better contacts. Don’t be choosy.
Tip #7: A courteous attitude originates from the concept that you are no better than anyone else.
Tip #8: Remember the Golden Rule? Practice that in life & in business so you will maintain a courteous attitude at all times.
Tip #9: Many people get their 15 minutes. Many also fall from grace. Keep that in mind when you get a little big headed
Stay grounded!
Tip #10: It may help to stop watching MEAN people on TV. It’s contagious
Flip the channel and watch some NICE stuff, eh? What’s to lose?
Tip #11: Speak positive thoughts to yourself: “I can be nice. I can be understanding. I can be polite.” Remember Stuart Smalley? LOL
Tip #12: Keep this in mind: Everything passes. Bad days come and go. “This too shall pass.” Remind yourself of that when needed, to remain polite.
Tip #13: If someone is rude, don’t take it personally. Most likely, it’s about them…not you.
Tip #14: “You will catch more flies w/honey than w/vinegar.” Why do we want to catch flies? Gross. But you get my point.:-)
Tip #15: If it would offend YOU reading something you wrote to a client, it will offend THEM, too. Don’t send it unless U want the reaction.
Tip #16: Courtesy is a sign of respect. Much of that is lost when a person thinks they are “all that.” Don’t get sucked in by that mentality.
Tip #17: Think you are ALWAYS right? I assure you – that’s not the case. Be willing to listen if someone points out a mistake. Learn from lessons.
Tip #18: If you are arrogant & elevate yourself above others now, what happens when you need them? They may not be there. Courtesy gains respect – long term.
Tip #19: Kindness & courtesy gains return business, long term friendships and loyalty. Keep that in mind when you WANT to be rude.
Tip #20: All in all, ask yourself this: If I behaved this way, would I like MYSELF? If not, modify your behavior. CHOOSE to be a courteous person.

How did your company start and WHY?
The why is simple - when I had first begun the business, I was a single mom and I wanted hours that are more flexible so I could be home when I needed or wanted to. I actually started working in this industry when I became pregnant. I worked from my house conducting interviews. After my daughter was born, I continued working at home conducting research. As my daughter grew older, it became more difficult to work from home so I started working part time for a research company located in an area mall. After my separation and divorce, I went to work full time. Each day I loved the industry more and more. The only issue I had was that working full time gave me no flexibility with the things I wanted to do at home and with my daughter. Being a single mom I also needed more job security than I was given.
I was lucky enough to have someone come through my office and see my talents , and, having worked with me, also become willing to invest in me. I also wanted to prove to myself that I could do this. It was very important to my self-esteem and important to show my children that with hard work and a little luck, you can accomplish big things.
What words of advice can you offer to other moms in business?
Having loving children helps a great deal. You should also have a strong support system. In my case, it was my husband who I married just 10 months after I started my business. He took care of most of the home chores so that I could concentrate on running and expanding my business.
Are you giving anything away today? If so, what is it?
Yes! We are providing one lucky winner with a goody bag of promotional items – including a gym-style bag, a reusable shopping bag, a key chain, two bendable Frisbees, and several hyper-color pens!
