You are really doing well with your product line. What’s your secret?
Relentless passion! I have never listened to the ‘naysayers.’ I have continued to drive my idea forward, stay focused and follow the course!
You’ve managed to get your own products onto many big chain retail stores, online. Do you email these stores, call them, or both?
I start by tracking down buyer’s names and then I email them. I re-email a second time and then I follow-up with a phone call. I don’t use a set script but I usually start the conversation with our successes. Buyers want to get a piece of something successful, so you need to let them know! It takes a lot of time and effort but it pays off to be persistent!
Your sales stay consistent. Do you think that’s because people find you Online, at the larger online stores? Has this helped with your sales reach?
Our sales have doubled year-on-year because we continue to grow our online line exposure by selling through big online stores. I see it like advertising – each big online store adds a layer of exposure and contributes to the marketing mix.
Where does your web site traffic come from?
Traffic comes from influential mom blogs, twitter, facebook, pinterest, google ads, organic search and keywords used in my blog titles.
Are you doing well with SEO?
In terms of SEO, I can’t say enough about keywords. It has taken my web ‘mistress’ 2 years to convince me but now I do not post anything on my blog, facebook, twitter or pinterest without keeping keywords in mind!
What motivates you to succeed?
I love the freedom of working for myself. I would not want to go back to a traditional corporate job. Also, my dad was very successful in business, so I am encouraged to succeed. Finally, I like to set an example for my son and show him that dreams are possible.
Any final thoughts?
Entrepreneurs need to stay focused. Decide your course early on and do not divert. You will have many temptations and many people giving you their thoughts and direction but my advice is to ‘keep your eye on the prize’ and stay the course!
